Company Overview
KIS Vietnam, backed by KIS Korea's extensive financial expertise, boasts a team of international experts and seasoned professionals from banking, audit, and domestic capital markets. By advancing executive and risk management techniques, KIS Vietnam aims to lead the financial sector in Vietnam. I was one of 2 designer working there. Each of us is in charged of our own project on each own partnering with a Business Analysis and 2-3 developers. The below is about my Asset Management project that I have worked from scratch to finish
Old design
Why was a redesign needed for Asset Management the page ?
The existing design appeared outdated and suffered from unclear information presentation, as it simply displayed whatever data the API provided without considering user needs or relevance. This left many users uncertain about how to navigate and effectively utilize its features.
Adding new features like interactive charts and personalized portfolio views is important. These updates make it easier for users to manage their assets effectively, enhancing their overall experience.
Lots of Broker has been complaint about this page before. They know so clearly what the pain points is. Incorporating feedback from users about that, we how can convert idea and frustration into a product.
User Research and Analysis
Users aged 35-44 accounting for the highest proportion at 38.8%, followed by 25-34.
=> Users in this age group may have diverse financial goals, such as retirement planning, wealth accumulation, or education funding. Understanding the risk tolerance of users is crucial, as it informs the design of investment products and services
Observation
Swot analysis is to gain insights into the gains and threats of this industry.
Lacking of some basis information
Data is combined and not transparent
Information layout issue
Not clear about user’s requirement about Derivatives.
If there is too much information without good layout, it will lead to information overload.
How can we help customers quickly understand the Assets section?
Concept Testing + Evaluation
Getting Feedback
After completing the wireframe, proceed to gather feedback. Terms need to be explained clearly. The section on withdrawable funds should be clarified, especially in relation to debt. The derivatives section requires expert opinions due to its specific features.
Prototype Validation
After completing the design, gather feedback from the Core team to assess if the system meets the data requirements and to understand user experience better. Although it's just an improvement on the screen, some fields have been renamed for clarity and tooltips need approval from departments before reaching users. Below are questions sent to departments (Research, Broker, Risk Management):
To ensure that the design meets your department's expectations and needs, please share your opinions on the following points:
What features in the new design do you value the most?
Are there specific areas of the design you would like to see improved?
Most feedback received is related to adding information to the screen. However, these requests have not been met by the core team, and too much information could dilute the focus of the Asset Management screen.
Implementing Feedback
After receiving feedback from departments, the team considered and adjusted the reasonable requests. Specifically: Request the vendor to add an API for the field "Funds needed to sell securities to reach maintenance margin ratio."
Then proceed to develop and deploy to the UAT environment to double-check the APIs and have the related departments review and verify the information before it reaches the users.
High-fidelity Design
Reflection
For future iterations I would love to analyze the system's APIs in more detail beforehand. Understanding the system thoroughly will save time and ensure that our design ideas are feasible. Even with strong design concepts, system limitations may hinder implementation.
